The Bahamas Yacht Charter. Back in the 16th Century, Spanish Explorers, tracing Columbus' routes, arrived in the Archipelago they named "Baja Mar" which translates literally as "Shallow Sea" and phonetically as Bahamas. This shallow sea, an immense proportion of water, is full of myriad cays and fragmented islands with some of the finest beaches and clearest waters one could hope for.
Nassau is a bustling city graced with southern styled houses of great old world charm.
Harbour Island, a mere three miles long, is an intimate Treasure of an island.
The Abacos are settled with clapboard cottages surrounded with picket fences and pocket handkerchief gardens. Marsh Harbour, chief city of the Abacos and the third largest in the Bahamas, has a long history of prosperity thanks to a tradition of ship building based on the lumber in its forest and the enterprise of its industrious residents. Many of these are descended from the Tories who fled America after the revolution. Exploring between Green Turtle Cay and Elbow Cay you will visit such cays as No Name, Whale, Great Guana, Man O' War and treasure. These quaint settlements are noted for beautiful lagoons and a few good dining spots.
The Exumas are quieter than the other islands; the colors seem deeper, the sand warmer and the people fewer. |
